East of Scotland Civil Service Golf Club

Dear `member`

The East of Scotland Civil Service Golf Club (ESCS) was founded for the 2008-2009 golf season, when enough interested parties were found who were willing to participate in this venture.

Through sterling persistence on behalf of R. Matthew and G. Dow ESCS was affiliated to the Scottish Golf Union and secured playing privileges at Camperdown and Caird Park golf courses in Dundee.

David Halliday created a superb website which contained every piece of information necessary for the club and included a fixture list, put together and agreed by committee members, and entry forms for club competitions.

For reasons unknown, many of the people who had initiated that they would participate in this club did not pay their yearly subscription of £20 (apologies to those who did) and on top of this there were only half a dozen members entered any club competitions.

Any club needs annual subscriptions to survive as we have to pay an annual fee for affiliation to the SGU and have to be able to fund prizes and trophies for club competitions.

The club also needs the participation of its `members` for it to succeed, and as this did not happen last year, we need assurances from the `membership` before we can decide whether ESCS will continue or not. Therefore, this letter will be sent to everyone who initially expressed an interest in ESCS asking them to vote either:

YES-I would be willing to participate and want the club to continue, or NO- I am not interested in membership. NON-REPLY WILL BE COUNTED AS A NO VOTE.

As affiliation fees are due by the end of January, replies will have to be made to myself by Friday 23rd January, this deadline will not be extended.

If not enough YES votes are cast, ESCS will fold and any monies left over will be donated to charity.
